This selection of hearts begins with a sleeping cat on a heart covered bed spread from my book In the Heart. Then there is a felt balsam pillow and a heart pin covered in french knots, both projects from my how-to book, Felt Wee Folk. The last two are a chain stitched heart that’s part of the endpapers and a heart tart from “The Queen of Hearts” nursery rhyme (see in this post) from my upcoming book, Pocketful of Posies (Sept. 2010). The original illustrations will be shown in a traveling exhibition which you can find out about here.
Note: See other posts in the Close-ups series archive here.
Your stitching is amazing ! The patience really has to step up and work over time !!! This was the hardest thing to do for me .
I’m not sure if I’m very patient, but stitching is therapy for me, like knitting or other repetitive needlework is for others. Boy, do I miss it since I’ve broken my arm. I realize how much we need the use of our wrists, not just our fingers to do any handwork. Only 2 more weeks in the cast and then hand therapy! Ow!
Hey Sal, What kind of camera are you using to get such detail in the pictures? Don’t you love those technical questions? love, Anne
Hey, Anne, I use a Canon Power Shot G11 for the pictures I take, but these photos of hearts are cropped from professional 4 x 5 transparencies or high res digital photos I’ve had taken.
I just love the kitty!
I love the kitty, too! The spitting image of our neighbor’s cat, Mack.
How did you break your arm, Salley?
