Thanks Helen. Since you took the photographs of your trip to Italy, you own the copyright. Adding a watermark with your name and copyright date identifies you as the source, if your pictures are shared on the internet. Registering your photos with the Copyright Office is not necessary, but it makes it possible for you to receive monetary damages if someone steals your work.
