The streets of Havana are full of American (and other) cars from before the Cuban revolution in 1959. It’s said that most have had their motors replaced with Japanese engines, but the old car bodies have been lovingly maintained. We took a ride in a convertible one evening!
That first car looks like a Morris Minor – my first car! Mine was blue not red. Great photos.
Wonderful photos! The colors are so bright. It’s like stepping back in time.
WOW! Cuba looks like a country where time stood still in so many ways..Did you feel that way Salley?
GOD Bless,
Rebecca
How fun is that!? I love old cars – so much personality. This is something I loved to learn about!
what a fascinating trip. hope you get to hear the music of silvio rodriguez, one of my favorites.
Gorgeous! Love the first photo and the fact that they are reusing those lovely old cars. They probably fair well in that climate.
My grandparents had one just like the orange Chevy. Theirs was pale blue and white.
