This couple lived on a shelf in the living room when I was a child. My parents probably bought them in Germany in the 50’s.
Their sturdy, carved wooden bodies are about 5 inches tall. I love the way the embroidery is painted on.

This couple is wunderbar! The way they are carved reminds me of some German carved Santas that I have. I know this type of carving is indigenous to a certain region in Germany, but unfortunately I don’t remember the name of the region. If I can find it, I’ll let you know, Salley.
Thank you for sharing with us this charming couple, they are still full of personality even after fifty years together. The years have not diminished their warmth and spirit. So sweet!
