Look what came in the mail last week! The marketing staff at Houghton Mifflin had 18″ x 18″ posters printed to promote my up-coming book, Pocketful of Posies. It was a complete surprise to me, and to celebrate this along with the summer solstice, I’d like to offer a Poster Giveaway to 3 of my readers (international addresses included). Please leave a comment on this post by June 30th and the winners will be picked at random.
Salley – such a nice surprise! I imagine finishing up a book with all of the work that you do can be about like giving birth! =) Will have to look for that book and make it a special gift for one of our little ones! Oh – and it is good to see your smiling face! 😉
Wow! What a surprise! You look REALLY happy in that photo!
Think that we will have a very WARM “beginning to summer” in New England! Did you notice it was still almost light at 9 last night?!
Dear Salley~ Everyone deserves a nice suprise once in awhile. Looking forward to your new book this Fall to add to my collection.Penny
I would love to enter! Thank you!
Great picture, Salley! I would LOVE one of those posters, so sign me up!
With all your incredible work on this book, I would think its
the least they could do to make a poster in support of your
magnificent effort.
I wish I had room on my wall for the poster, but I will be more than satisfied to get my copy of the book when its finally out.
I like to think I was among the first to pre-order it!! 😉
I hope you sell a zillion and pick up an armload of awards!!
OOOXXXOOO, CC
Thanks for all of encouragement, Carolyn! I’ll enter you in the contest anyways. If you are picked, I’m sure there’s someone you can give it to. As for the poster being made–I’ve learned not to expext anything, that way I’m pleasantly surprised when something happens!
Hi Salley, after raising the last 2 of my 5 children to enjoy reading your books I have now started in with my 3 grandchildren, who are as enchanted with them as my own were. You go girl!
What a treat to have such a beautiful work of art! I love what you do and have used your patterns in many gifts. Keep up the wonderful work.
I am a new fan of yours, and have started collecting all your books that I can find. I work with preschoolers, and have 2 grandchildren, so I enjoy sharing the books and my handwork with them. You are such an inspiration!! Thank you.
oh my! how exciting! i like seeing you in the photo and not just your stunning work. 😉 thanks for sharing and happy solstice!
Thank you for this unexpected lottery! Great picture. The poster looks very well done. I especially like the vibrancy of the background and how it works so well with your borders. Is the poster you’re holding mounted on foam core?
Salley,
What a treat to see your happy smiling face, rest assured, you bring joy to so many people, I have your Wee Willie Winkie book on my kitchen dresser and smile each time I see it.
How wonderful to have the beautiful poster as a testament to all your hard work.
Jenny

So good to see both of your hands holding the wonderfully rendered poster! I love how you picked some of my favorite nursery rhymes to illustrate the cover of “A Pocketful of Posies” and I look forward to getting the book so I can see all of your artistry interwoven with the age old rhymes. A copy will be added to my collection and then given to our two “grandies”. Thanks for all you do to make even the old favorites, “new” again. Thanks also for this opportunity to win one of the posters…it’s a great idea!

The poster would be so awesome for our daughter’s play space/ library where it will feel right at home as the colours will go beautifully and the play space is very Waldorf, wooly and woodsy.

I’m in love with your work. Please throw my name in the hat! Best to you.
It’s almost the 30th so must leave a comment here to be part of the “drawing” or whatever you are doing. It is so helpful to see your photographic progress on your projects….to see what you do and in what order. Your work is so precise and even. The way you have done the borders is so charming. Your work gives me the same feeling I get when talking with children…..that YOU have not lost the spark of childhood is what makes your work so pleasing. Don’t ever lose that spark!
Hi Salley,
My mother & I have enjoyed collecting some of your books & kits.
We even figured out that we own a few of your first pins.
The new book looks like it is going to be even more fabulous.
Best of luck w/ the rest of the process.
I have been following your art for years it seems, somehow i just recently thought to look for your blog! LOL 🙂
Love,love,love your work!
Please enter me in your contest, if it’s not too late!
